Disclaimer on Hydrogen-Induced Embrittlement (HE)

Fasteners with a hardness of ≥360 HV, particularly those subjected to electroplated surface treatments, may be at risk of hydrogen-induced embrittlement (HE) — a condition that can lead to delayed brittle fracture. This risk is especially pronounced in high-strength fasteners (e.g. strength class 12.9 or >380 HV) combined with galvanic coatings, as referenced in ISO 4042.

Alternative surface treatments and production methods are available to help mitigate this risk. However, the final selection and use of any fastener remain the responsibility of the customer.

By purchasing or specifying such products, the customer accepts full responsibility for any potential consequences related to HE. Sucatec Pte Ltd and its affiliates accept no liability for product failure due to hydrogen embrittlement under any circumstances. All warranty, compensation, and product liability claims relating to this issue are expressly excluded.
